This weekend I was delighted to show my parents around Seville, as they 【小题1】 (come) for a short but sweet visit. Although the weather wasn’t the best, we still made 【小题2】 best of our time together.

Being reunited with the people you love in a new place 【小题3】 (bring) excitement. Showing them around the new city makes you 【小题4】 (extraordinary) happy. For example, as Seville is known for flamenco (弗拉门科舞), I took them to see a famous 【小题5】 (perform) my friends recommended to me, which gave us such a wonderful visual feast. Furthermore, getting to show your visitors the places 【小题6】 (appeal) to you is a pleasant feeling, because you are eager to let them know where you love to spend your time. You are letting them get involved 【小题7】 your new life. Also you have the opportunity 【小题8】 (show) your beloved ones the new places that they may fall in love with.

So, after a two-day trip, I feel pleased to have had the time to explore those 【小题9】 (attraction) with my parents. I am already looking forward to their next visit 【小题10】 I can show them more of what Seville offers and what I am still yet to discover.

I am fond of my sister but she has one serious shortcoming. She can be really stubborn.【小题1】she didn’t know the best way of getting to places, she insisted that she organize the trip properly. Now, I know that the proper way is always her way. I kept 【小题2】(ask) her, “When are we leaving and 【小题3】 are we coming back?” I asked her whether she 【小题4】(look) at a map yet. Of course, she hadn’t; my sister doesn’t care 【小题5】 details. So I told her that the source of the Mekong is in Qinghai Province. She gave me a 【小题6】(determine) look — the kind that said she would not change her mind. When I told her that our journey would begin at an altitude of more than 5,000 【小题7】(metre), she seemed to be excited about it. When I told her the air would be hard to 【小题8】(breath) and it would be very cold, she said it would be an 【小题9】(interest) experience. I know my sister well. Once she has made up her mind, nothing can change it.【小题10】(final), I had to give in.

I grew up in a little village in England. My father was a struggling lawyer, 【小题1】I always knew he was special.

Dad’s always been very understanding. At 15, I started a magazine. It took a great deal of my time and the headmaster of my school gave me a 【小题2】(choose): stay in school or leave 【小题3】(work) on my magazine. I decided to leave and Dad tried to prevent me 【小题4】doing that way, as any good father would. When he realized I 【小题5】(make) up my mind, he said, “Richard, when I was 23, my dad advised me to go into law. And I’ve always regretted it. I wanted to be 【小题6】biologist, but I didn’t pursue my dream. You know 【小题7】you want. Go fulfill it.” As 【小题8】turned out, my little publication went on to become Student, a 【小题9】(nation) magazine for young people in the UK.   

My wife and I have two children and I’d like to think we are bringing them up in the same 【小题10】Dad raised me.
