The UN is an international organization which is made up of countries that want to promote world peace. Now I’m a Goodwill Ambassador for 【小题1】(they). My job with the UN is voluntary and I visit countries 【小题2】 the UN has programmes to help people. When I visit these countries, I’m followed by the television and press and my visits 【小题3】 (record), which will help people know better about the work of the UN.

Recently, I traveled to South Africa because of my work with the UN. There I met some 【小题4】 (woman) who have organized themselves into a group. They collect about 1.35 yuan per day 【小题5】 each member and add it to some money 【小题6】(contribute) by the government. With the money, they can afford 3 【小题7】(acquire) materials and make baskets to sell at the market. If they are lucky enough, their group will become 【小题8】(large) and maybe set up a shop.

Such programmes can change people’s lives. There are a lot of other worthwhile programmes like this under 【小题9】 umbrella of the UN that have helped millions of people worldwide.

Apart from the urgent problems caused by wars and conflicts, the UN helps countries with 【小题10】(vary) other problems. To learn more about the work of the UN, you can visit the UN websites.

The Center for Humane Technology is made up of people who used to work for big tech companies like Google, Facebook and Twitter. They want kids to stop【小题1】 (use) those apps and websites so much.

In early February, the center started a campaign called The Truth About Tech.【小题2】 (it) goal is to teach students, parents and teachers about the 【小题3】 (danger) of spending too much time on smart phones and computers. The Center for Humane Technology says that the apps and websites we use every day 【小题4】 (design) to keep us chatting, playing or watching online as much as possible. Students spending too much time online may 【小题5】 (easy) find it hard to be focused 【小题6】 school work. Children and teenagers are more likely 【小题7】 (have) these problems because their brains, bodies and social skills are still developing.

One goal of The Truth About Tech campaign is to make sure that kids understand how technology affects them so they can make 【小题8】 (good) decisions. The people behind the campaign also want governments【小题9】the tech companies themselves to take steps to protect children. When the leaders of the big technology companies are designing tech tools for kids, they should think about 【小题10】 they would want for their own children.

Chloe Ho Pui-pui, 【小题1】 officer from HongKong Police Force, volunteered for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. In a training course, Ho got up close to horses, allowing her 【小题2】 (gain) firsthand knowledge about Equestrian (马术) events. Her main 【小题3】 (responsible) was to help two UK horseshoers (蹄铁工) communicate with the workers from the mainland 【小题4】 didn’t speak English.

During the first few days of the event, it was hot and some people 【小题5】 (fall) ill. “My role was to be on call and ready to go wherever I was needed. 【小题6】, I ran around the center, regularly taking 10,000 steps each day,” Ho said. In these days, she slept badly and always had to shout to make herself 【小题7】 (hear) in noisy conditions. As a result, one day she had difficulty 【小题8】 (speak). In the afternoon on National Day, when no competitions 【小题9】 (schedule), the organization invited Ho and other volunteers to a party for they had really set good examples 【小题10】 the public.
