The Special Olympic athlete

For athlete Eric Williams gold medals are nice, but good sportsmanship is more important. Eric has a low mental 【小题1】 （able）but this does not stop him from 【小题2】 （take）part in the Olympics. In 2005 Eric 【小题3】 （compete）in running races and the long jump. He said, "I've been competing in the Special Olympics ever 【小题4】 I was at high school. It's really 【小题5】 good experience. You get to meet a lot of athletes and volunteers and make different 【小题6】 （kind）of friends.” John Corbett, an organizer of the Special Olympics said, “He always does his 【小题7】 （good）and has a wonderful time in the process. He 【小题8】 （true）appreciates（感激）all the people around him 【小题9】 are trying 【小题10】 （help）, and he makes that appreciation known.” Let's hope Eric wins more medals in the next Special Olympics!

As a player, Lang Ping brought honour and glory to her country. As 【小题1】 coach, she 【小题2】(lead) the China women’s volleyball team to medals at world championships 【小题3】 the Olympics. As a person, Lang Ping 【小题4】 (love) by fans at home and abroad. When the Chinese team was preparing for the 2015 World Cup, her 【小题5】 (determine) was tested. One of the best 【小题7】 (player) had been injured, and the team captain had to leave because of heart problems. 【小题8】 (lose) two important players was a big challenge, but Lang Ping did not lose heart. Then in 2016, Lang Ping led her volleyball team to Olympic gold in Brazil.

Stephen Curry, the son of the famous basketball star Dell Curry, is also a well-known NBA basketball player in the world. He spent his childhood years 【小题1】 (practise) basketball on the 【小题2】 (mud) basketball court. However, the poor conditions helped 【小题3】 (he) develop his own playing style. He also learnt to be 【小题4】 (create) and flexible as a player. Nonetheless, for many people, it seemed unlikely that Stephen would be 【小题5】 great basketball player, because he was too short, too thin and too weak 【小题6】 follow in his father’s 【小题7】 (footstep). Despite this, Stephen never gave up, and ended up 【小题8】 (play) college ball at Davidson College, not too far from where he lived. 【小题9】 (select) for the NBA in2009, he became a member of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. In 2015, he led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975. Stephen achieved his dream through self-belief, hard work, perseverance 【小题10】some help from an old hoop. He has proved that anything is possible as long as you try your best to do it.
