Everyday Habits That Could and Should Change Forever After Coronavirus

Handshakes will be out. In this new era of the coronavirus and the practice of social distancing, there will undoubtedly be a cultural shift in the way we all greet one another. 【小题1】 Instead, social greetings may be a head nod, or any action that enables one to avoid direct touch or contact.

【小题2】 We are already seeing a dramatic shift in how consumers are eating at restaurants. The restaurants that require their guests to dine in are seeing the largest decline in sales. Delivery and takeout options might be expanded. More clear information might be posted in the restaurant showing they are clean.

More companies will permit employees to work remotely. More companies will permit employees to work at home. Businesses and their employees see that working from home is not only doable but that it might even be more productive. 【小题3】

We'll find another way to press buttons. Directly touching the keypads with your fingers will be an action of the past. Most of us are aware that everyday locations are full of germs. 【小题4】 People might start pushing those elevator buttons with their elbow or even an object like a pen instead of their fingers.

People will take their personal space more seriously. One of the most visible policies in the age of the coronavirus is the idea of "social distancing”. 【小题5】 People will start paying more attention to whom they let approach them in their personal space and the socially acceptable personal distance will change in most cultures.

I wrote a business plan the other day. I gave it to my husband for suggestions. After reading it, he said, “I don't think this is up to your usual standards.” I said, “I need more information. What doesn't work？” He said he wasn't sure. I then took the letter and reread it.

He asked, “How about if I look at it again and make notes between the space？” I agreed. A half hour later I looked at his notes and told him he didn't understand the situation and what I really wanted to express. He shrugged (耸肩) and said OK. I took the letter and went back to my computer and again revised it. As I was writing, I could see my letter improving based on his suggestions. When I finished, I proudly handed the letter back to my husband. He read it for the third time and said, “It's still not right but I couldn't exactly say.” I was a little annoyed and then told him I was the writer and I had seen some goofy(愚蠢的) letters he sent out. But I picked up my letter and went back to the computer.

After an hour of revisions, I went back to my husband apologetically with the letter in my hand. I told him I was sorry for what I'd said and asked if he would please read the letter again because I did value his contribution. Being a very patient and kind­hearted fellow, he once again read my letter and declared that it was fine.

This all leads me to the following: when you ask for advice on a project, be appreciative and grateful. Understand that the advice and suggestions you get may be negative. Understand that it may mean more work for you. And keep in mind that the final responsibility for the project is still yours. So be modest and thankful even if he or she has noted some problems.

Just the other day，I was driving my son to the part­time job that he had at a workshop for the disabled.The sky was very dark.A cold rain was pouring down.The world seemed silent and sad with both people and animals taking shelter from the storm.I turned on the car radio for music to make me calm.When I did，however，Karen Carpenter's sweet voice came out，singing，“Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.”I turned off the radio.That was not the song I wanted to hear on such a day.Still，the song kept playing in my head as the showers(阵雨)continued throughout the day.

Later that afternoon，I was walking out of the bathroom when I saw my son turn on the television.A classic movie was playing and suddenly I heard these musical tones(曲调)coming from Gene Kelly's voice，“I'm singing in the rain，just singing in the rain.What a glorious feeling.I'm happy again.I'm laughing at clouds，so dark up above.The sun's in my heart and I'm ready for love.”

At that moment I saw that God in his loving­kindness had reminded me once again that all of life is a choice to love.Rains and problems will always come.We can let them get us down or we can choose to sing.We can let the showers soak our souls(灵魂)or we can use them to help our souls grow.We can allow the darkness to make us sad or we can use it to awaken the sunshine and love in our hearts.
