Was it probable that Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai and Western hero King Arthur meet and fight against each other? Yes. In a game called King of Glory (王者荣耀), created by Chinese company Tencent, King of Glory has been one of the most popular MOBA games in China since 2017.

About one in every seven Chinese people plays the game, and 55 million of them play it every day. The game is easy for beginners. Social media like QQ and WeChat have also helped the game’s community grow. New players can be invited to play the game by their WeChat contacts, with some seeing it as a good way to keep in touch with old friends and make new ones.

The game has more than 60 characters to unlock and play as you progress, each with their own special style and abilities. The characters cover different times and countries. Some are real historical characters, like Li Bai. Some are not. Players use them to fight against each other or team up to fight. The winners can reach higher ranks.

However, some people think King of Glory gives the students incorrect information about events and people in history. For example, the poet Li Bai is described as a killer; Jing Ke, the man who tried to kill the first emperor of China, is a girl in the game. But more people worry about children playing the game too much and spending too much money on it. Most of the players are below the age of 19. It’s reported that a 17-year-old boy had a stroke (中风) after playing the game for 40 hours.

To change the situation, Tencent added a time limit feature to the game to prevent kids from playing too much. From July 4, 2017, children under 12 years old can play the game for only one hour a day, while users between 12 and 18 get two hours. Those who try to play beyond the time limit will be locked out of the game.

Bad drivers in the District could soon get a serious warning sent straight to their cell phones. The city is working to identify drivers with a history of traffic violations, such as speeding and driving through a red light, to send messages warning them of their history of infraction(违规) as well as their risks of getting into a fatal crash.

City officials say they hope the pointed messages(定制信息) will decrease dangerous road behaviors. “We know that there is a number of drivers that are putting others at serious risk with excessive speeding and red-light running,” said Jeff Marootian, director of the city's Department of Transportation, one of the agencies leading the effort. “We're hoping that this creative approach can ultimately reduce serious injury and fatality crashes.”

“This is a creative approach that we haven't tried before, and we think that it is worth the effort,” Marootian said. The concept, which D.C. officials say is a first among cities nationwide, is the latest effort to target dangerous drivers in a city where serious and fatal crashes are on the rise. City leaders said evidence shows drivers with multiple traffic violations are more likely to be involved in crashes.

Researchers have studied the relationship between repeat traffic offenders and serious collisions, with some data suggesting a strong connection between the two. But some researchers also have pointed to other factors at play, such as the amount of time the driver spends on the road and exposure to traffic enforcement（强制性）systems.

A team from The Lab led by Muriel E. Bowser, is examining data from the District's automated traffic enforcement program to predict a driver's likelihood of being involved in a serious crash. It will create a campaign that could include text messages and mail sent to a sample of high-risk drivers. “We will evaluate whether drivers who receive these messages have fewer red-light violations, speeding violations, and ultimately, crashes, compared to the group of high-risk drivers who do not receive the messages,” according to The Lab.

The program is among the latest road-safety measures with the purpose of cutting the growing number of traffic injuries and fatalities. Although the new messages appear as a warning to higher-risk drivers, city officials said the intention is to educate the recipient, Marootian said there is no violation or fine attached to the message and that the campaign is to use data to directly communicate with individual drivers. Some questioned whether the message will work.

Snowbirds are people who leave their homes when the temperature drops and head to warmer climates. They are mostly retirees and business owners who can afford to take the winter off. While the snow flies in the Northern states, they are enjoying golf, sailing and barbecues in mild temperatures in the South. Then, after winter passes, they return to their homes in the North.

Most snowbirds are away from Canada and the Northern states between the middle of October and the end of November. They pack up and head to Florida, Alabama, Texas, California and all of the other Southern states. Some may even go as far as Australia or Italy to escape the cold winter weather. There are special communities for snowbirds in many areas. Snowbirds are also offered special discounts in some restaurants, hotels and area attractions. Several states even have special snowbird resorts. There are several online communities and local resources to help snowbirds get set in their seasonal homes.

Some snowbirds own homes both in the South and in the North. Both homes have everything they will need for their stay minimizing the amount of packing necessary when moving from one to the other. Other snowbirds will rent apartments for the duration of their stay outside of their home state.

Recreational vehicles, or RVs, are a huge part of the snowbird lifestyle. RVs allow snowbirds to move from place to place on a whim, bringing everything they need with them. They spend nights in RV parks, large parking lots or anywhere else they choose to stay. RVs have beds, bathrooms and most other modern conveniences available in a regular home. Although the spaces are small, there is more than enough room for a couple to live in.
