The hotel on the moon may be just a few decades away, as the European Space Agency (ESA) is advising building a lunar vacation spot. This "Lunar Village" would be the first structure of its kind, a unique achievement for Europe, and the human race in general.

The Lunar Village would likely be built near the poles of the moon where water ice is trapped at the bottom of dark holes. Such places would not only provide water for the tourists, but would also allow for constant daylight, unlike other locations on the lunar surface. Visitors would wear normal clothing while inside the hotel, putting on spacesuits when out on the lunar surface.

The plan suggests that this hotel could house scientists and prospectors (勘探者) along with the next generation of space tourists. Construction of the facility would largely be financed by Russia, together with contributions from China, Japan and India.

ESA managers are warning the public of space travel dangers, including extreme temperatures and radiation from the sun.

By 2030, it may be possible to construct a base on the moon, providing a supply station for space travelers on their journeys to Mars or other locations in the solar system, space engineers predicted

"The ESA space exploration strategy sets the moon as a priority destination for humans on the way to Mars, and the recent talk of a "Moon Village" certainly has spread a lot of positive energy in Europe." said Kathy Laurini of NASA's Exploration Roadmap Working Group.

Although such a base is possible, there are no dates set yet for the public opening. Tourists wishing to visiting the moon can afford to wait to pack their bags-rockets taking passengers to the lunar surface are not leaving anytime soon.

An architecture class at WSU will present their ideas for a small luxury hotel to upgrade Pullman's downtown during the Town and Gown Collaborative meeting which will be held from 7:30-9 a.m. on Oct.22 in the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Event Center. The Collaborative is a joint committee between the city of Pullman, Pullman Chamber of Commerce and WSU.Its purpose is to strengthen ties between the city and the university and to foster a strong relationship to create a special college town.

As part of the third-year class, seven student teams each designed a five-star luxury boutique hotel in Pullman located on the former Mimosa Cafe site on Main Street.Out of seven hotel designs produced, the class will put forward three of the most pioneering solutions to the city of Pullman during the Collaborative meeting.

WSU Architecture Professor Paul Hirzel said that the 5-star luxury hotel choice is absent in the Palouse and a rarity in Eastern Washington, giving his students a unique challenge.Features of their projects include 16-luxury rooms, a roof top swimming pool, loft suites with balconies overlooking the river, and a ground level cafe with sidewalk and riverside courtyards. The project explores a current trend in college towns of providing the five-star boutique hotel choice to the more typical franchise hotel choices.

The presentation to the city gives the students a valuable real-world opportunity to present their projects to potential stakeholders and to advocate for their designs to nonarchitects, Hirzel said.Goals for the project also included exposing his students to the realities of structure and material choice as well as a challenging site condition fronting on both a river(that floods) and a main street.

"When students can achieve beyond their expectations in creating a new vision for downtown Pullman, both the students and the Pullman downtown community will benefit." he said.

Did you make financial decisions last New Year’s Eve? Did they fall by the wayside? If so, you are not alone. 【小题1】.

▲Make a smart budget

Did you plan to make a budget and fail to do so? This is a perfect time to start, as you are heading into the new year. You may be able to stop yourself from overspending if you realize how overextended you are. If you’ve taken no other financial steps this year, start by setting a realistic budget. 【小题2】.

▲Control your spending

Even if you had a budget, were you able to stick to it? 【小题3】. Use it as a psychological advantage-you have less to spend so you need to shop harder for bargains and research prices. Impulse buying (即兴购买) will be less likely to attract you and your spending should be more focused as a result.

【小题4】

You had a savings goal, didn’t you? If you didn’t have a specific goal, it may be why your savings effort failed. Set a smaller savings goal now, and use that to build a larger savings goal for the upcoming year. Make sure that you equate(使等同)your savings with a specific goal.

▲Reduce your debt

Debt reduction is an important goal, especially in the case of high-interest debt such as credit cards. It’s easy to get into an unrecoverable increase of debt if you have no plan to keep debt in check. It is a longer-term goal, but one you need to start right away. 【小题5】. That may be a tall task, which is all the more reason to start immediately.

A.Increase your savings
B.Have a clear goal for your debt
C.You will go on with your new decisions
D.Most other financial improvements will follow
E.Start small by setting a spending budget for your shopping
F.But this year, you can make some progress on your financial goals
G.Attack the debt with the highest interest rate, and control your spending

When someone asks me what my goals are for the coming year, I don’t usually know how to reply. Of course I, as most people do, want to see an improvement in my grades. This year, however, I’m hoping for something different.

Through the course of my school life, I’ve gradually developed a new understanding of the word “prioritization (优先次序)”. The first thing I wish to get in Senior One is the ability to spend my time better. I’ll surely become busier with the coming semester, and proper organization is important. From school clubs to academic (学术的) competitions, everything should be set up in a way that doesn’t influence my health, which leads me to my second goal.

My mother has always told me to put my health first, so in the future, I hope to both physically and mentally healthy. A person can’t study without having the energy to do so. In order to stay energetic, they must put their health first, no matter how busy they are, or how much work they have to complete.

And finally, I hope that I won’t be discouraged by my failure and never give up on my dreams. I hope that I’ll have the courage to try new activities and clubs. I believe my final goal can apply to every student around the world. We should all respect each other’s likes and dislikes, and focus on each other’s strengths, not our weaknesses. Everyone should try to take part in all kinds of opportunities.

Albert Einstein once said, “life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” In my case, it’s the other way around. In order to keep moving, I must keep my balance — the balance between studies and activities, efficiency and procrastination (拖延症), academics and health, passions and dislikes. The new journey is going to be a hard one, but if I establish these goals, I believe I will make it through to the end.
