A special exhibition was held by China's Palace Museum 【小题1】(celebrate) the 2019 Chinese New Year.

On January 6, 2019, the first day of the 【小题2】(twelve) lunar month in Chinese calendar, a record-breaking number of around 1,000 antique items 【小题3】(display) at the famed museum. The former record was 【小题4】(current) held by the 1935 International Exhibition of Chinese Art in London at 【小题5】 735 antiques from the museum were shown.

The exhibition was divided 【小题6】 six areas, fully displaying the customs of the Chinese New Year during the Qing Dynasty, including an open area 【小题7】(decorate) with historical customs of the dynasty and restored ''royal'' festival celebration activities.

''The exhibition not only presented 【小题8】(visit) there with antique collections, 【小题9】 also allowed the audience to enjoy themselves in the cultural atmosphere of ancient China, '' said Shan Jixiang, manager of the museum.

During the exhibition, the museum was filled with 【小题10】(tradition) Chinese New Year decorations, like Spring Festival couplets (春联) and lanterns.

Booking a museum ticket, during this hectic summer vacation in China, is not easy. Visitors may be disappointed by the fact that tickets for the entire week might be 【小题1】 (full) booked.

In response 【小题2】 the “heated-up museum fever during the summer vacation”, Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau, in a rare move, announced on Aug. 18 that 46 museums in the city would cancel their Monday closures until Aug.31, 【小题3】 (allow) visitors to visit museums every day.

The increasing demand is also visible in 【小题4】 (pack) museum halls across the country. To many museum staff, the crowds they see this summer were rarely seen before.

Looking into the various 【小题5】 (cause) behind this “museum craze”, Guo Sike, curator (馆长) of the Confucius Museum in Qufu City, east China’s Shandong Province, 【小题6】 (point) to the “craze for traditional culture”, or a growing fascination with traditional Chinese culture, particularly among young Chinese.

“Young generations have cultural confidence and love the splendid traditional Chinese culture,” said Guo, adding 【小题7】 modern technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), have diversified the means by which traditional culture is presented, and enabled it 【小题8】 (present) in a more lovable and lively image.

“The visit leaves my kid 【小题9】 general impression of the long history of our country, and helps to 【小题10】 (broad) his horizon and enriches his knowledge,” said a mother.

The Garden

My father always had a garden. He once found a plot even when we lived in the house with someone else. They always【小题1】(appreciate) the vegetables he provided in exchange【小题2】his use of the garden plot. The vegetables were very important to our food supply but he【小题3】(probable) would have had a garden anyway. He was from a large family with 11 brothers and sisters【小题4】had learned to depend on a garden for adequate food. Each year in early spring, he used a small push plow(犁) 【小题5】(prepare) the soil for the plants and seeds. He always had【小题6】 (tomato), peppers and watermelons. One summer watermelons came up from【小题7】we had threw the seeds. He built【小题8】shelf for the melons to rest on while they grew very large. This became the conversation of the neighborhood.   In the fall Dad would remove all of the【小题9】(die) plants and sow turnip(萝卜) seeds over the whole plot that would provide turnips for most of the winter months. In later years when we had【小题10】(we) own home he added a flower garden. His prize flowers entered the Fayette County Fair each year.
