I got on the plane for a long flight to New York. After settling down, I spent a few minutes talking to a young ______. While talking, I ______ on the back of his hand a tattoo (纹身)—“Lost”.

For some reason, that ______ me in the same way as “Help Wanted” ______ in store windows did sometimes. I wondered what he was ______.

This passenger told me ______ there’s a lot you can do in New York, there’s a lot that you can’t do when you’re penniless. And now he was learning how to do video editing. Then we ______ the topic of documentary (纪实) film-making and the beauty of working creatively with ______. I told him about a documentary I made and pulled out a copy from my ______ to show him. He looked at it in silence and then asked ______, “Can I buy this from you?”

“No.” I said. “But you can ______ it.”

Even though I didn’t usually give my works away, ______ in me really wanted to share this story with this random stranger. He was surprised and touched by the ______.

Before landing, I prepared three Smile Cards as the “______” for the documentary, with a note telling him how to use them creatively.

As the flight ______, I asked, “what is that about?”, pointing to the back of his ______. “Oh, that. That’s the______ of a TV series my girlfriend wanted me to pick up. I just wrote it to ______ myself.”

Before he left, I handed him his “bill”. He was ______ and shot me a big smile before putting it into his pocket. “By the way my name is Mark,” We shook hands and he left. And I am ______ smiling.

I wrote my first poem at the age of seven and showed it to my mother. She read and cried, “Buddy, you really wrote a beautiful poem!” Shyly but_________,   I said yes. She poured out her_______ . “It was nothing short of talent!”

“What time will Father be home?” I asked. I could hardly wait to_______my work to him. I spent quite some time_______for his arrival. I wrote the poem out in my finest handwriting, drew a fancy border around it and_________I placed it right on my father’s plate on the dining table. My father had begun his motion-picture career as a writer. I was sure he would be able to_______my poem.

At almost 7 o'clock my father burst in. He seemed_______. He circled the dining-room table, complaining about his employees. Suddenly he paused and glared at his plate. “What is this?” He was reaching for my poem.

“Ben, Buddy has written his first poem!” my mother began. “And it’s beautiful, absolutely amazing…”

“If you don’t mind, I’d like to decide for myself.” Father said.

I_______my head as he read that poem. It was only ten lines. But it seemed to take hours. Then I heard him dropping the poem back on the table. Now came the moment of decision.

“I think it’s _______ ,” he said. I couldn’t look up. My eyes were getting________.

“Ben, these are the first lines of poetry he’s ever written,” my mother was saying. “He needs________.”

“I don’t know why.” My father held his ground. “Isn’t there enough awful poetry in the world already?” I couldn’t____________it another second. I ran from the dining room crying. Up in my room   I________myself on the bed and cried the worst of the________out of me.

That may have been the end of the story, but not of its________for me. I realized how fortunate I had been. I had a mother who said, “I think it’s wonderful!” and a father who drove me to hear with “I think it’s________.”

Every one of us needs that mother force, from which all________flows;and yet the mother force alone is incomplete. It needs the balance of the force that________, “Watch. Listen. Review. Improve.” Those________voices of my childhood ring in my ears through the years, like two opposing winds blowing me. Between the two poles of________and doubt, both in the name of love, I try to follow my true course.

Have you ever imagined your future？ I try to do this all the time． Most of us will follow in our _______footsteps， by this I mean our adult lives will _______resemble the lives we live as children， set by our parents' examples． Have you ever _______and thought about this？ What an awful job it must be to _______a child properly! But， what happens to the children that live _______drugs， alcohol and violence in their childhood？ Where can they find good examples for themselves？

I know of one place that is trying to_______all children． It is the McDowell County D．A．R．E． program in McDowell County North Carolina． Our teachers carry on their shoulders the great_______of teaching kids to just say NO to drugs， alcohol and violence． I am personally acquainted with _______of these things， not because I have ever_______them myself， but because of my dad． He drank， _______drugs and smoked pot （抽大麻）． When I was 7 my mom took me and my sister and ______． I wonder if my dad ever thought about the _______and what this bad decision would lead to when he first started experimenting with drugs and pot at 13． He has been in jail， he can't get a decent job， and he lost his ______． These bad choices also caused him to hurt his children in horrible ways．

I am _______that I have at least one parent to help me make wise decisions， and to teach me right from wrong． I am also _______that the D．A．R．E． program is taught in our schools． One of the most _______things I learned from D．A．R．E． is that a person that has a parent with an addiction problem is more than twice as likely to become addicted themselves， as compared to a person that has no family history of drug ______． I have learned many things through this ______， especially about the consequences of our trying drugs． You could get arrested， hurt yourself or someone else，_______ your life by becoming an addict， or even die． All of these things are terrible， but I can't think of anything _______as a parent than hurting our children and the people that love us． DRUGS DESTROY LIVES! I give the D．A．R．E． program two thumbs up， for all the good things being accomplished．
