The German Nazis were in search of Anne and her family. The family had to hide away from the chase. They didn't dare to go out even in the evenings. They had to stay 【小题4】(indoor) day and night. Not   【小题5】 (be) able to go out for such a long time, Anne missed the beauty of nature so much that she 【小题6】 (grow) crazy about everything to do with 【小题7】. She stayed up until eleven thirty one evening on purpose just to see 【小题8】 moonlight. She said,“This is the first time I have seen the moonlight since I 【小题9】 (come )here.”

【小题10】 (fortunate), the family were discovered at last and taken away from the hiding place.

One weekend, Roberta Ursrey’s family went to the seaside for a travel. At first, everything went well. But suddenly, Roberta Ursrey saw her two sons 【小题1】 (struggle) against the tide 100 yards out from shore.

Several other Ursrey family members along with a nearby couple, jumped in the water 【小题2】 (help) them and 【小题3】 (catch) in the tide. There wasn’t a lifeguard 【小题4】 duty and the situation was growing more and more dangerous. So beach goers began linking arms and heading into the ocean. People 【小题5】 couldn’t even swim was part of that human chain.

One onlooker, Jessica Mae Simmons knew she could save those due to her strong swimming skills. Although some were worried about heading out into the sea, Simmons felt 【小题6】 (confidence) she could bring everyone to safety. Simmons and her husband grabbed two boards and paddled down the human chain until she reached the 【小题7】 (swimmer). She rescued them one by one and when everyone returned to the beach, the crowd cheered 【小题8】 (happy). Simmons said she stayed calm 【小题9】 she strongly felt everyone would be okay in the end, especially when everyone pulled their strength together to save perfect strangers.

Thanks to onlookers’ willingness to leap into action and Simmons’ 【小题10】 (brave), beach goers saved several lives that day.
