A couple had a son eleven years after they married. They were a loving couple and the boy was the apple of their eye. When the boy was around four years old, one day the father was very tired after work so he asked his wife to pick up their son. The mother, who was very busy in the kitchen, totally forgot about it.

Later the boy lost his way on the street. When the son was found missing, the mother hurried to look for him, but she didn’t find him. The mother felt very sad and didn’t know how to face her husband.

When the father went to the police station after hearing that the son was missing, he looked at his wife and said just four words. What do you think the four words were? The husband just said "I love you, darling."

The son was missing. If he had picked him up earlier, this would not have happened. There is no point in blaming (责备) anyone. His wife had also lost her only child. What his wife needed at that moment was comfort and understanding from her husband. That is what the husband gave his wife. Several weeks later, with the help of the police, the couple finally found their lost son. The family’s relationship became stronger over that time.

Sometimes we spend lots of time asking who is to blame. We miss many chances to give each other support and let each other feel the warmth of human relationships. Get rid of all your unwillingness to forgive, selfishness, and fears and you will find the world is much more wonderful.

It wasn’t until Yash Gupta broke his glasses in taekwondo practice that he realized just how much he depended on them. He had to wait a week to get a new pair.

“I couldn’t see clearly in the classroom,” said Gupta, now 17. However, Gupta’s eyes were opened to a much larger problem. He saw on the Internet that more than 12 million children worldwide don’t have the corrective eyewear they need.

“It’s just a total disadvantage for them, because if you can’t see anything, you definitely can’t make the most of the education you’re being given,” Gupta said. “It would be impossible for them to fully achieve their potential (潜力). I had this problem for one week, but these kids have these problems for their whole lives.”

So at just 14, Gupta started Sight Learning, an organization that collects used eyeglasses from optometrists (验光师) and donates them to organizations that can deliver them to children in need.

For Gupta, who has worn glasses since he was 5 years old, the idea of repurposing old eyewear made sense. Most of his family members wear glasses, and just searching his own home yielded positive results. “I found 10 to 15 pairs just lying around the house in the drawers,” Gupta said.

With the help from his father, Gupta approached local optometrists, who agreed to put out drop boxes where patients could donate their used eyeglasses after getting a new pair.

Since 2011, Gupta has donated 9,500 pairs of glasses, worth nearly $500,000, to young people in Haiti, Honduras, India and Mexico. Gupta knows that the glasses he’s providing can make a big impact. “A lot of times, these families are in poverty (贫困),” he said. “With a good education, they can get a good job. Right now, we partner with international organizations. I’d like to bring this service to more countries.”

Once there was a man who liked eating mangoes. One day, he climbed up to the top of a tree to get the sweetest mangoes, where the branches(枝条) were thin. He picked a few fruits. But when trying to climb down, he slipped and started falling towards the ground. Fortunately, he caught a branch and remained helplessly hanging on the tree. Then he started to call for help. Some villagers immediately came with a ladder and sticks, but could do little to help him.

Then a wise man arrived. People were very curious to see what he would do, as he was famous for solving people’s problems in the area. He was silent for a minute and then picked up a stone and threw it at the hanging man. Everybody was surprised. The hanging man started to shout, “What are you doing? Are you crazy? If I could just come down, I would give you a good beat!”

He then used all his skill and strength to reach the branches which were safe to land. Finally he made it! Everybody was amazed. “Where is the old man?”shouted the angry man. “Oh, he didn’t wait for you to beat him,”said a villager. “I will beat him hard!”shouted the man. Then someone said, “Hey, wait a minute. He is the only one who helped you. He is the one who provoked you and led you to help yourself.”

The man thought for a moment and admitted, “Yes, he led me to try my best and save myself.”
