Liu Xingwu, a primary school math teacher in Shiqian County, Southwest China’s Guizhou Province, usually goes to play basketball with his colleagues on the school’s rooftop playground instead of going straight home, as he used to do,

Liu started working at the school last autumn, which was established in 1996. Located in an old area of the county, and with a shortage of fund, it was hard for the school to increase its sports fields.

All 2, 600 students had to take their PE classes in the open space next to the teaching building before. What’s more, all collective activities were also held there before.

According to Gan Youjun, a PE teacher who has worked at the school for eight years, with all the students taking PE at the same time, they all had to cluster together, and as a result, there was no enough space for educational activities.

“Things changed this year. A public welfare foundation (福利基金会) in Shanghai and several other companies in Shanghai donated 590, 000 yuan to help us build a playground,” said school headteacher Zhang Yi. Zhang and his partners decided to build a rooftop playground because there was no other available (可用的) land, and they started the construction this summer vacation. The playground, containing two basketball courts, a football field, a plastic running track and a badminton court, as well as a throwing zone, came into use this September.

“The playground not only broadens the school’s sports facilities (设施), but also provides more fitness facilities for students and teachers, ”Zhang said. Liu usually plays basketball for one hour after school, “It makes me feel relaxed and ensures a better performance in class,” he said. In addition, Gan also found that his students’ interest in PE is much higher than before, since they now have better conditions and facilities.

Mindy Scheier is on a mission to make fashionable clothing accessible to everyone. In 2014, she started the Runway of Dreams Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps bring adaptive clothing to disabled people.

Scheier explained the inspiration behind her efforts. ''My son, Oliver, was born with rigid spine muscular dystrophy, '' she said. ''His lack of strength created challenges with typical clothing. After spending years in the fashion industry, I decided that there was an opportunity to combine my fashion experience with my others. ''

Scheier began to create trendy clothing that her son could wear with ease. For example, she used magnets and elastics(松紧带) in place of buttons and zippers. Those adjustments have enabled Oliver to wear the same style as his friends do, even jeans.

Scheier's vision extends beyond just helping her own son. ''I soon realized that millions of disabled people were also struggling to access fashionable clothing that meets their needs, '' she said. That was why she started the Runway of Dreams Foundation.

On September 5, 2018, the foundation held its annual fashion show during New York Fashion Week. The event showcased the foundation's new adaptive clothing. The show featured several disabled models, including Cole Gottlieb and Maddie Hostetter. Cole, a 9-year-old boy born with cerebral palsy, loves to play baseball and soccer. He was excited to participate in the fashion show. ''It lets me be a role model to others, '' he said. Maddie, aged 8, was born with only one full arm. ''I heard about Runway of Dreams from my mom, '' explained Maddie. ''Even though I can button clothes with one arm, the magnets have made it much easier for me. ''

Scheier-whose TED Talk was released in January 2018-credits her passion with the progress Runway of Dreams has made in the last few years. ''Passion allows you to not take no for an answer, '' she encourages. ''It allows you to keep going when faced with challenges. ''

A girl became a volunteer in the activities of Deathbed Care，which meant visiting and taking care of a patient suffering from an incurable disease with days numbered.

The girl was assigned to look after an old man suffering from cancer whose children lived abroad. Their living conditions were not satisfactory while the old man had a lot of savings. She was expected to comfort him and keep up his spirits.

Every Saturday the girl came on time to keep him company，telling him stories. When he was having an intravenous drip (静脉滴注)，she would help massage his arms. The doctor found the patient much improved mentally. The old man began to involve himself actively in the medical treatment and he seldom shouted at others.

But something that happened made the doctor uneasy and puzzled. Each time the girl left，the old man would give her some money. The doctor did nothing to interfere (干涉)，unwilling to offend the old man. A month later the old man showed evident signs of decline after suffering coma(昏迷) a few times.

When rescued from the latest coma，the old man told the doctor his last wish，“I have deep sympathy for the girl. Will you be kind enough to help her finish her studies？”

But the doctor knew that her family was well－off and she had no difficulty pursuing her studies. Sometimes she even came to the hospital in her father's car.

When the girl came at the weekend after the death of the old man，the doctor told her the bad news. She was very sad and burst into tears. Then she handed   $500 to the doctor，saying，“The old man had all along thought I came to do the job because of poverty. He gave me money so that I could continue my schooling.” Now he got the answer to the puzzle. In the last period of his life，the old man found it a real pleasure to be able to help a girl badly in need.
