Although it might not always feel like it, life is ridiculously short. It probably wouldn’t mean much or be worth much if it lasted forever. 【小题1】   it’s so short, with the limited time that you have, I recommend creating something worthwhile, and if you dare, 【小题2】   amazing. Think of your life as a major project, with a deadline. Every day, every week, month and year, you get the opportunity to 【小题3】   work on improving it piece by piece or sit back and watch it corrode        away. That’s life. At some point, you have to be improving just to stay where you are.

Did you ever wonder where Legos come from? Who invented 【小题1】 (they)? What was that person’s story? When you learn about the Lego story, you will be 【小题2】 (surprise)!

Like many great 【小题3】 (invention), the story is not just one of a great idea, but of hard work and determination.

The story starts off in Denmark. Ole Kirk Christiansen was a carpenter (木工) who was having a hard time with business. Then, his wife, the mother of four kids, 【小题4】 (die). This was very hard on everyone. He was looking 【小题5】 new ways to make money and make his kids happy. So, he started to make wooden toys. His sons helped him with his business. But the toys did not sell very fast. Ole thought his toys needed a new name. He chose the name “Lego”, 【小题6】 in Danish means “play well”. Then, unluckily, his workshop burned to the ground. Everything 【小题7】 (destroy). Ole almost gave up. But he knew 【小题8】 was important to support his workers and kids. So he started to make plastic (塑料的) toys. He then got the idea 【小题9】 (create) a “system” of toys that would build kids’ imagination and creativity. He built a village to test the idea. Soon they decided to stop 【小题10】 (make) wooden toys and centre only on the connected plastic toys.

Thanks to the determination of Ole, now kids around the world enjoy Lego toys, movies and much more.

Curiosity is part of human nature. Children want answers 【小题1】 tons of questions. People keep reading or watching because they want to find out what happens. But curiosity also provides many 【小题2】(practice) benefits.

Many of history’s greatest 【小题3】(discover) were made by curious people. People wondered how processes worked or how certain tasks could be done more 【小题4】(rapid). Thanks to their curiosity, people now know far more about the world and get useful technology 【小题5】(help) themselves.

Even if you don’t plan to be 【小题6】 inventor or researcher, curiosity can still help you in the classroom. If you develop the joy of learning, classes will become more fun. Even if you are no longer a student, curiosity will make you better 【小题7】(inform) and thus a more capable worker. Often, the more you learn about a topic, the 【小题8】(interest) it becomes.

Thus, ask a lot of questions. Remember, everyone knows something 【小题9】 you don’t. Find out what that is, and ask about it.

In the classroom or out of it, 【小题10】(develop) curiosity is sure to be worthwhile.
